Infographics Gallery: From My Website, E-book, & Social Media Series
Custom-made visual aids to increase health insurance literacy through easy-to-understand, accurate information
I’ve created infographics about many of the basic insurance concepts that I had trouble getting my head around and that also present a challenge for others. Not all of them are about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) but a large number of them are, particularly those from my social media series. This is because I am determined to increase awareness of the realities of the ACA, subsidized insurance coverage, and the Health Insurance Marketplace®.
The ACA and the resulting Health Insurance Marketplace have been incredibly effective at protecting consumers and saving people money, but sadly, most people either know nothing about them or have been misinformed. I am here to clarify that with facts to correct the misconceptions held by so many.
According to the Economic Policy Institute, 29.8 million people would lose their health insurance if the ACA is repealed, which would more than double the current number of individuals without insurance coverage. In addition, 1.2 million jobs would be lost, not only in health care but across the board.
One of the things we can do to help protect the ACA (and to increase health insurance literacy) is to be informed about it and share that knowledge with those who aren’t. I believe that if more people knew about what it actually is and does, they would be less likely to vote for anything or anyone who threatens it.

I must confess that when I first started making these graphics and when I first started blogging, I had no clue whatsoever about accessibility, as evidenced by the fact that I put the text straight into the graphic. (I know, I know…NOT a good look.) To salvage them and make them a bit more useful, I’ve included a link to a blog post with detailed descriptions of the images with the text transcribed in full. The links that appear in the images are also listed. (Click the pink button right before there image slider to access that supplementary blog post.)
Please take these infographics and share them anywhere and everywhere you think they could reach even one person. Share them on your social media, in messages with friends and family, in emails, in newsletters, anywhere and everywhere that you feel they would be beneficial. Credit me if you want to (or don’t) but just spread the facts. Quick reminder that health and health insurance literacy is a problem that affects 9 out of 10 adults in the US and is estimated to cost $106 billion to $238 billion each year in direct health care costs.
